Michael Lights a Fire in Rainy Central Park

Michael Dean Odin Pollock has recorded and performed with several of Iceland's finest artists and musicians. Utangardsmenn/Outsiders, a group Michael helped form and performed and recorded with in the early 80s, were recently awarded Icelandic Rock Group of The 20th Century. Michael's work has been published and performed in Europe, Asia, and North & South America. "Michael Pollock's writing is full of energy and reeks with all the colors of the rainbow." -- Kathy Acker (novelist)

"Michael Pollock creates a brilliant world of love and death and rock n roll.
The voice in his head is old but the poems are authentic, are new. He is a
man on fire." -- Steve Lutrell (poet, publisher)

Michael Dean Odin Pollock was one of many poets who read on a rainy Saturday in Central Park in honour of Allen Ginsberg, who had died a year earlier.

Al Aronowitz organized the event, which had to be cancelled because of the rain.

There was no audience -too much rain! So the poets read for themselves.

"Number 45 here, Michael Dean Odin Pollock, come all the way from Iceland to be with all you here today in honor of the memory of Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Arthur Rimbaud, William Blake and all the other countless artists and visionaries who’ve lit up this road for us."

Michael is a great friend of and collaborator with Ron Whitehead.

ODE TO THE BEATS
"Poetry drums keep beating
sending signals out into the night
across the plains
piercing the skyscrapers
bouncing off mountains, valleys, canyons

Keep the poetry drums beating
the drums of Africa
drums of the North American Indian
keepers of the beat
in a barroom in Chicago
in the hills of Morocco
in a rainy Central Park
keep the poetry drums beating
in the depths of the human heart

Keep the poetry drums beating."
